Change symbol date format

Question:

My computer is set up for English and with United States settings.  However, I want to make the dates on my schedule reflect a date order used by my customers.  Instead of mm/dd/yy, I would like to use dd/mm/yy.  Is this possible?

Answer:

By default Milestones always displays dates and expects date entry in the format of the computer. This is so that if a schedule is sent back and forth between computers of different date formats the dates always display in the format of the computer, which is assumed to be set to the country of the end user.

Any screen requiring date entry will always default to the short date format of the Windows computer that Milestones is running on, such as m/d/y or d/m/y, etc. Date entry can also always be done via the date tool, where you simply click on a date in a calendar, which avoids the user having to know the default date order of the computer:

It's also possible to customize the date format within Milestones:

  1. On the Dates tab, choose Set Symbol Date Format in the Date Related Settings section.

  2. Use Custom Date Format.

  3. In the space to the right of Use Custom Date Format, enter a string for formatting.  Press the button for information about formatting.

Examples of custom date formats:

For a date of May 5, 2019

  1. d M y will display:  5 5 19

  2. ddd--M---yyy  will display: Sun--5--2019

  3.  d MMM yyyy will display: 5 May 2019
