Symbols are hollow

Question:

I am selecting a red symbol and black connector in the Toolbox. However, when I add them to my schedule, the symbol appears hollow and so does the connector. Why can't I get solid, color symbols and connectors?

Answer:

Milestones has a feature called "fill to status date" which, when turned on, causes the bars to be hollow after the current date.

Fortunately there is an easy solution:

Go to the Dates tab.
Bars: Fill to Status Date to turn off this feature for horizontal bars.
Symbols: Fill to Status Date to turn off this feature for symbols.
