Symbol text does not appear

Question:

None of my symbol text appears. In the toolbox I choose a text position as I usually do but still the text does not appear.

Answer:

There are several things which can affect whether or not symbol text appears and where it appears. However, if NONE of the symbol text appears, it is likely because at some point the Hide all symbol text option was chosen.

To correct this:

On the View tab, choose Override Symbol Text and Symbol Date display.
Choose Use Toolbox and individual symbol text settings.
