Date heading displays January, Jan, or J

Question:

How does Milestones decide to display the whole month's name (January), an abbreviated version (Jan), or just the letter (J)?

Answer:

The monthly date heading display will either show January, February, March; or Jan, Feb, Mar; or J, F. M based on the amount of horizontal space allocated to the shortest month, the number of columns displayed, and the width of the schedule.

For example, if you are displaying the time period 1/1/2015 to 3/3/2015 , then J, F, M will be the date heading. Because March only has a small amount of horizontal space (three days), only M will fit. All other months will have the same format.

If you are displaying the time period 1/1/2015 to 3/31/2015 , then January, February, March will be the date heading because there is plenty of horizontal space for each word.

If you are displaying the time period 1/1/2015 to 3/31/2015 and have 8 columns displayed in an 11 x 8.5 schedule, then Jan, Feb, Mar will probably be the date headings because there won't be much horizontal space for the full words.
